A casual treat for fashion lovers who can’t afford the iconic tweed jacket but still want to look stylish!
Gabz is worked in the round from the bottom up with multiple strands of yarn for the perfect tweedy effect, while linen stitch creates a woven fabric illusion.

YARN
Beanie
2 x 85 (100, 120) m / 93 (109, 131) yds in DK weight
4 x 85 (100, 120) m / 93 (109, 131) yds in lace to fingering weight
Slouchy hat
2 x 120 (140, 170) m / 131 (153, 186) yds in DK weight
4 x 120 (140, 170) m / 131 (153, 186) yds in lace to fingering weight

I recommend using highly speckled / variegated yarn for best tweed-like results.

I used 1 skein of DK yarn for my beanie version, pulling yarn from both ends of my cake together at once so I could easily work with 2 strands of the same colour of DK weight yarn.
Yarn reference: Kate Selene, Superwash Merino DK, 100% merino, 210 m / 230 yds / 100 g. Col Rainbow Sherbet

I used 4 strands of lace weight to fingering weight yarn for both slouchy hat versions.
Pink / orange version is a mix of 1 strand of fingering weight slub yarn, 1 strand of lace weight mohair and silk, and 2 strands of fingering weight sock yarn, one being speckled and the other one semi solid. The slub yarn I chose is highly variegated.
Yarn reference: Kate Selene, Slub, 90% superwash wool 10% nylon, 400 m / 437 yds / 100 g. Col. Tropical Punch
By Night Creations, Halo, 72% kid mohair 28% silk, 420 m / 459 yds / 50 g. Col. Cochenille
Purple / green version a mix of 3 sock yarn strands and 1 light fingering weight strand of merino and silk yarn. 3 out of 4 are speckled colourways, 1 is semi-solid.
