Cube is a reversible scarf combining marling and double - knitting, so that contrasting squares and lines appear as clear graphic statements on both sides of the piece.
It is a symmetrical rectangle, worked flat from top to bottom.
The marled garter stitch fabric is delightfully heavy, which makes Cube a very cozy accessory on cold days.
Previous knowledge of the techniques involved is not necessary: Cube is a very rewarding first double – knitting project.

Cube Kits are available from This Is Knit.

NEEDLES AND NOTIONS
4 mm / US 6 needles or size required to obtain gauge. You may use straight or circular needles. I recommend using circular needles for a more comfortable knitting experience with this heavy piece.
tapestry needle

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
The scarf is a rectangle.
Width : 40 cm / 15 ¾’’
Length : 190 cm / 75’’

GAUGE
20 sts x 34 rows = 10 cm / 4’’ over garter stitch after light steam blocking. Gauge is not crucial.

BONUS TIP: SCRAPPY CUBE

Cube can also be a great leftover buster !
In my scrappy sample, I stuck to cubes and let go of the lines, because the colour changes were enough variety for me ! You may of course interpret the pattern your own way !

YARN
Fingering weight yarn (366 to 400 m / 400 to 437 yds per 100 g skein)
About 10 g / 37 to 40 m / 40 to 44 yds of each colour (A, B, C, D…) are necessary to work a full repeat.
A full repeat requires 2 colours.
1 full repeat measures 7 cm / 2 ¾’’ up x 40 cm / 15 ¾’’ wide.
To achieve a 190 cm / 75’’ scarf, you will need a total of 540 g / 1944 to 2160 m / 2126 to 2362 yds of fingering weight yarn.
