Corella Wrap pattern PDF
Corella is the wrap addition to my Ballet Collection.
I named this wrap after world-famous Spanish ballet dancer Ángel Corella, founder of the Barcelona Ballet, because the bright colours that Greta and the Fibers hand-dyes in Spain inspire me to dance in their sunshine!
This lightweight wrap is worked flat in modular sections: a main garter stitch and slipped stitches rectangle, a brioche side panel and eyelet borders.
YARN
Col. A: Greta and the Fibers, Raval Mezclum, (75% superfine merino, 25% nylon, 400 m / 437 yds / 100 g). Col. Ametlla de Mar (varigated warm grey, brown, turquoise blue) 380 m / 415 yds / 100 g
Col. B: Greta and the Fibers, Gótic, (75% kid mohair 25% mulberry silk, 420 m / 459 yds / 50 g). Col 522 Capri Breeze ( bright turquoise blue) 400 m / 437 yds
Col. C: Greta and the Fibers, Raval (75% superfine merino, 25% nylon, 400 m / 437 yds / 100 g). Col. 408 Spectra Yellow (bright, warm yellow) 380 m / 415 yds / 100 g
Yarn equivalents:
Use fingering weight yarn as A and C. Make sure you choose a 400 m / 437 yds skein so you do not run out of yarn!
To achieve the same light and airy texture, I recommend using laceweight yarn as B. Mohair is my first choice but you can use a different fiber if you prefer (merino, silk, alpaca…)
While A and B can be close colourways, choose a genuinely contrasting colour as C.
A solid or semi-solid colourway will work best as C to showcase the brioche motif.
NEEDLES AND NOTIONS
4 mm / US 6 circular needles or size required to obtain gauge. Even though this wrap is worked flat, circular needles are recommended to accomodate the large number of sts, and necessary for the brioche panel.
11 markers, tapestry needle
GAUGE
18 sts x 30 rows = 10 cm / 4’’ over two-colour garter stitch after blocking.
Gauge is not crucial here, but it will affect the finished measurements of the wrap and the yarn quantities required to complete the project.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
